Michigan Institute for Clinical & Health Research (MICHR)

The Michigan Institute for Clinical & Health Research (MICHR) at the University of Michigan is part of a national network of institutions working to accelerate the translation of research discoveries into improved health. Founded in 2006, MICHR is supported by the Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Program, housed within the National Institutes of Health (NIH) – National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS).
Translational science seeks to identify and overcome persistent challenges in the research pipeline—making the research process faster, more efficient, and more impactful. By examining the translational research ecosystem at a systems level, MICHR aims to develop generalizable innovations that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of research across all health conditions and disease areas.
The MICHR Cureus Channel is dedicated to advancing translational science by publishing research that helps identify and overcome barriers along the translational continuum.
We welcome submissions related to, but not limited to:
- Identification of common causes of inefficiency and failure in translational research projects that provide the opportunity for future investigation.
- Evidence-informed/based innovations, including methods, tools, processes, and programs, that mitigate operational or scientific roadblocks at any point along the translational continuum, thereby increasing the quality, safety, efficiency, effectiveness, informativeness, and/or impact of research.
Who Can Submit
We accept submissions from MICHR-affiliated faculty, staff, community members, patient partners, and partner organizations.
Note: Students are welcome to submit, but must include a faculty member or senior researcher as a co-author to ensure adherence to ICMJE authorship standards.
External researchers interested in contributing should contact the MICHR Channel Administrator before submitting.
Accepted Article Types
We accept a variety of peer-reviewed and non-peer-reviewed content, including:
- Original Articles – Reports of primary research with new findings.
- Review Articles – Critical syntheses of existing literature.
- Case Reports – Detailed descriptions of individual clinical or medical cases.
- Technical Reports – Accessible summaries of technical or procedural innovations.
- Editorials – Thought pieces on relevant or timely topics.
Note: Editorials are only accepted from senior clinicians or researchers with an established Cureus publishing history.
